Fusion Education Program in China

A structured fusion education program was launched in China after the country joined the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¸ßÊÖ Project in 2003. A joint effort between the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China National Nuclear Corporation, more than ten top universities and ten institutes have become involved in the "Fusion Talent Training Program" which aims to train 1,000 young talents in the field of fusion before 2020.

Special "Fusion Talent" classes have been organized in different universities (beginning with the third year of an undergraduate course) and programs have been developed at the Master's and PhD level. Fusion summer schools, together with nearly 10 different topical workshops, are held each year in China. Approximately 200 Master's students and 150 PhD students join the fusion program each year; ten promising talents (under the age of 45) are granted financial support.
